In the In-Between

There is no there there.

For most of us, life unfolds. We set our schedules and then get busy about them.

Looking back, we can mark moments... when we met a person who changed our life, experienced an event that changed our direction, altered our path, or made a decision, set an intention and stuck to it.

For the most part, we live in motion in the in-between. We can become lost forever in the in-between.

When we set an intention or make a decision, oftentimes what happens is that we allow over-thinking and second-guessing to interfere with a new direction. That's common. It keeps us in that netherworld of the in-between without a goal in sight.

It helps to make a plan. To break steps to a goal into a set of tasks. To schedule those tasks to meet a goal.

It also helps to be flexible. To allow for correction, refinement, serendipity, magic.

I wish that I could locate the exact quote and source, but I once read a passage by a man who decided to climb a challenging mountain. He said something to the effect that once he made the decision to climb the mountain, all sorts of things shifted around that decision. People, support, funding and other things that he needed came across his path and fell into place in ways that he could never have set into motion himself.

It's partly intention, clarity of intention and, in many ways, acts of faith that allow us to shift the course of our lives when we feel compelled to make such a shift. I've been compelled on many occasions over the decades to do so. Lot's of times, a certain risk is involved. It can be scary. There are always a lot of unknown factors.

Even as you set new intentions and move towards them, the intentions and goals shift. It's groundlessness. But with intention, a direction.

Life is short. Think you don't have enough time? Time is all you have. The more time that elapses, the more limitations fall into place.

What dreams have you not yet realized? What gifts have you not yet expressed? And really... what do you have to lose?

It's up to you. No one else can make decisions or set intentions for you. Spring is here and it's the perfect moment to start planting seeds.

What seed can you plant right now to unfold with the new season?
