The Empty Nest

No need to show you the empty nest. It's become quite gross inside over the past few months but it did a great job holding two groups of baby Robins. This post shows the chicks from the second group. I thought for sure that I'd posted a shot of the second group of eggs but must have forgotten. Above was the first out of the nest. He (she?) must have fallen as he's been out for over a week.

The other two took the plunge today. Immediately below we have the last one out, thinking long and hard before leaving and looking a bit pecked over. It was getting very crowded in there.

Then we have the middle child who I spotted hopping through the clover in the back yard.

Off she goes!

I know, what it is like :)
Our birds are still very busy , no fledglings yet.
And my "fledglings" are coming after 1½ weeks here living with us about one month before their mom vacation starts.
I wish you a happy weekend, Suzanne!

Wow, that 'last one out' is the cutest little robin. Love it. Love reading your escapades, too.

Well, Sandy Dawn and Leena.... If you keep reading forward, you'll see that mom Robin laid 4 more eggs after these tykes flew the coop.
